Routeco Streamlines Accounts Payable and Order Management Processes with Esker

Derby, UK — January 9, 2020Esker, a worldwide leader in AI-driven document process automation solutions and pioneer in cloud computing, today announced that Routeco, one of the UK's leading distributors of industrial automation and control products, has chosen Esker to improve their accounts payable (AP) and order management (OM) processes.   

Routeco identified a number of manual touch points when processing sales order and vendor invoice transactions. This was causing a limitation in the capacity to have pro-active processes, leading to a lack of engagement with their customers and suppliers. Removal of these manual processes will allow Routeco to increase customer and supplier engagement as well as enabling improved ways of deploying their highly skilled workforce. 

The decision was made to select Esker for streamlining AP and OM processes as they were seen as the best solution provider when compared to others on the market. In particular this was due to the fact that Esker had strong solutions in both of these areas, whereby other providers, although having satisfactory AP solutions, were perceived to have only secondary offerings for OM. Additionally, when evaluating the ease with which the solutions could be used and integrated into their business, Esker was deemed the most capable to achieve this through their simple user interface and agile methodology practices.       

“Our manual processes have decreased significantly, as has the time and cost associated with the reduction of paper-based transactions. We have already seen some excellent benefits with our invoice processing at nearly 100% automation, of which 30% are ‘touchless’, and our sales order processing at approximately 75% automation. As a further result, our branches have not had to move to larger premises as any growth in order transactions can now be managed within the existing teams” said Martyn Clark, Branch Sales and Operations Manager at Routeco.          

Martyn continued: “Looking ahead to the future we aim to have complete automation of orders, with our eventual goal to gain full autonomy from receipt of order to order acknowledgement. Our AP department is aiming to become paperless with easy visibility of all documents, and can also handle an increased volume of AP documents without increasing headcount.”
