An Introduction to SAP Packaged Services
Real value – minimal risk
The current economic climate doesn't tolerate speculative IT expenditure or experimental projects. Any investment in a business system needs to deliver real value in a short space of time - and with minimal risk. In response, SAP has worked with Esker to develop a range of tightly specified and aggressively priced Packaged Services that are quick to deploy and focus on particular business or technical problems.
What is a Packaged Service?
A Packaged Service is a set of services and in many cases software tools that have been combined and packaged so that they address a specific need in the business of an SAP customer. Packaged Services provide necessary, simple, specific but comprehensive solutions to real business problems. They are easy to understand, quick to deliver, and extremely low risk.
Packaged Services overview
Each Packaged Service has been designed with four basic principles in mind. These principles help SAP customers to judge quickly whether any particular Packaged Service is right for them to buy. Each Packaged Service is:
- Necessary – Every Packaged Service is designed to fix a problem encountered by existing SAP customers
- Simple – A Packaged Service contains only the elements needed to fix the problem. Often the core problem being solved is not complex, and is overlooked or remains at the bottom of the list of IT projects
- Specific – The scope of the problem addressed by a Packaged Service is clearly stated and unchangeable. It does exactly what it says it will do
- Comprehensive – Each Packaged Service includes all of the requisite professional services required to deliver as quickly and safely as possible the solution to the specific problem
Packaged Services characteristics
Every Packaged Service shares a group of characteristics that make them ideal for SAP customers to propose within their business environment as a simple, rapid solution to a problem rather than an open-ended IT project.
- Fixed – The contents of a Packaged Service are always fixed. A customer always knows exactly what will be delivered. And precisely what is not included. Every customer purchasing a Packaged Service from SAP receives exactly the same service
- Quick – The delivery of every Packaged Service is within 30 days of its start date.
- Straightforward - The price in the catalogue is the price the customer pays. The customer does not bear the risk of overrun
- Low Risk – A customer does not receive an invoice from SAP until delivery of each pre-defined element of the Packaged Service has been completed
Packaged Services components
The components within each Packaged Service have been carefully chosen to solve the specific problem.
- Software – The scope of Esker’s solutions utilised by a Packaged service is kept to the appropriate level, and no more. A customer will not be paying for features that are not required
- Delivery Services – Install any software to be used on the QA system. Configure it for the existing SAP system. Test that it works. No additional customisation services are included within the delivery of the Packaged Service
- Documentation – Provide delivery documentation that is needed to support the ongoing use of the system
- Knowledge Transfer – Ensure that key users have the knowledge to continue to maintain and use any software or configuration delivered
